Building Faith, Building Community

Since 1953, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church has been a place where people from all walks of life gather to worship, serve, and grow in the grace of Jesus Christ. We’re a warm, down-to-earth congregation rooted in the Gospel and active in the life of our community.

Our Mission

Holy Trinity welcomes all people to gather around God’s Word, share the promises of the Gospel, grow in Christian faith, and be a positive influence in the community. At the heart of everything we do is a single truth: we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Because of His love, every person is invited to find forgiveness, belonging, and purpose in Him.

Our Faith and Heritage

We are a member of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS), a denomination that confesses the historic, biblical Christian faith and holds to the teachings of Scripture and the Lutheran Confessions. Our worship centers on God’s Word and the Sacraments. In Holy Communion, we believe Christ is truly present, offering forgiveness and life to all who trust in Him.

Serving Our Community

Faith at Holy Trinity isn’t confined to Sunday—it’s lived out in service to our neighbors. Our congregation is deeply involved in outreach throughout the Longwood School District and beyond:

Community Food Pantry — In partnership with Long Island Cares, Family Service League, Stony Brook University Dining Services, local farmers, and generous donors, we serve about 150 families each week. Guests enjoy coffee, cake, cookies, and conversation before selecting their groceries in a true “shopping” experience that honors dignity and builds connection. Prayer with the pastor or a deacon is always available—and many have found a church home here as a result.

Annual Coat Drive — Each fall, we collect new and gently used coats, hats, and gloves, distributing them in connection with our Trunk of Treats event to keep our neighbors warm through the winter.

Trunk of Treats — A family-friendly celebration where faith meets fun. Families decorate vehicles with biblical themes, children play games to earn treats, and the community gathers for free food, music, and fellowship.

Project Toy — In partnership with Family Service League of Long Island, Holy Trinity serves as a designated Christmas toy distribution site. In 2024 alone, more than 800 families selected gifts for their children, and several new families began worshiping with us—one even celebrating baptism the following summer.

Other outreach ministries include Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Walk to the Nativity, Path to Salvation meditative walking path, GriefShare meetings, Easter Sunrise Service, and the upcoming Community Table Talks—a 2026 initiative inviting local residents to share community needs and ideas for service.

Beliefs and Practice

Holy Trinity with the universal Christian Church, teaches the Bible is the true and trustworthy Word of God that records God’s love for the world through His Son Jesus. The miracles recorded in the Gospels and the teachings of Jesus are true and accurate.

The Triune God: the Father, creator of all that exists; Jesus Christ, the Son, who became human. Jesus physically died on a cross for the sins of all human beings, and physically rose from the dead in three days. He physically ascended into heaven, and the Church awaits His second coming when He will judge all people. Those who trust in Jesus as their Savior will rise to eternal life in heaven. Those who deny Jesus and live in their sin will be cast out of His presence to hell.

What is "Lutheran"?

Holy Trinity accepts and preaches the Bible-based teachings of Martin Luther which inspired the reformation of the Church in the 16th century, as summarized in three phrases: Grace alone, Faith alone, Scripture alone, and as defined in the three Ecumenical, or Universal Creeds; the Apostles, the Nicene, and the Athanasian, and the Lutheran confessions as found in the 1580 Book of Concord.
